In her later years after Jesus has died, risen and ascended, perhaps Mary looked back to the events surrounding his birth and thought of all that was told to her by the Angel Gabriel, and by Elizabeth, and by Simeon and Anna, and said ...
"They didn't tell me about those three awful days when we lost our child, and I couldn't eat or sleep, wondering if I'd ever see him again."
"They didn't tell me that my husband would die, and I'd be left alone to raise me son."
"They didn't tell that the people in our town would try to kill my son."
"They didn't tell me he'd be arrested, convicted as a criminal, and condemned to the worst death anyone could die."
You have had expectations and intuitions of what your life would be like. And you've got your won share of "They didn't tell me's."
Mary and you could have a good conversation about this.
