Picture asking God: "What is the purpose of creation, of life? In other words, God, what were you thinking when you started this whole thing in the first place? What is the ultimate product you had in mind?"
Picture God responding, "Well, there isn't any product." (That's a stunning answer, especially in today's product-oriented society.) If pressed for further clarification, God would probably say: "Do you think I need a task for to accomplish something I want done? Do you think I need to come up with a product? I am God."
As to the purpose of creation, God might simply say: "That they may have life and have it to the full."
God might use an analogy: "Learn something from the birds of the air. They are out there being birds. That's what I made them to be. Learn something from the flowers of the field. They are out there being flowers. You could learn a thing or two from them."
Think about springtime and flowers in this Easter season. Flowers are true to themselves, whether in light or darkness, whether in sunshine or rain. They are called to be beautiful and true to their nature, even if someone comes to step on them or cut them. Their task is simply to be flowers.
Whatever the season, your task is that you may have life and have it to the fullest. For what is the kingdom of God other than all people and all things being what they are, together in harmony?
