We have a beautiful planet, but it's not a perfect planet.
We don't have peace, justice, goodness everywhere in this world. That's why you're called to be about the work of what is called "building the reign of God." You try to plant the seeds t that peace, justice and goodness grown on the earth.
Jesus taught us to plant those seeds by responding to evil with goodness. When you surround evil and immerse it in goodness, the earth moves a tiny bit closer to becoming what God intended.
Even the smallest act of love changes the balance of love and evil in this world. Little by little, goodness grows. It'll take a long time, and you don't expect to live to see the process finished. But that's what you're called to do.
You add to the goodness and love in the world in a thousand different ways in the circumstances of your own life. Some people do it through married life, some through single life. Some do it as laypersons, a few as religious. Some do it through the power and influence they have, mos tin ways that hardly anybody notices. Some do it through a broken life, some in sickness, some by dying a valiant death.
No one way is better than another, but each way is important.
You can only do what is given you to do ... and that's all God asks of you.
