Evangelization is the means by which we spread the Gospel message and help other encounter Christ. By virtue of our baptism, we are all called to evangelize the community around us and share our love of Christ with those we meet. As Catholics, we sometimes have an aversion to the idea of evangelization. It can make us uncomfortable or feel like we are forcing what we believe on other people. However, evangelizing does not mean we have to go door-to-door telling people why they should become Christian or Catholic. Rather, evangelizing can be as simple as offering to pray for someone who is struggling with a problem. It can mean inviting someone to come to Mass or a program at church with you. It can even mean just living your life in a faith-filled way and letting that speak for you. Whichever way you choose to evangelize, it is important that you play your part. It is not just up to priests and religious to spread the faith. Each of us should serve as part of Pope Francis’s “joyful band of missionary disciples,” bringing the Good News of the Gospel to the world.
