- John 6:52-29
Passages about the relationship between Jesus and the Father seem complicated at first, but if you take your time with them, you discover very simple truths.
The Gospel text above is a good example:
- Jesus is truly a human being who is also God. He is one with God the Father.
- We human beings are linked to Jesus (he is one of us, part of our human family), and because he is God, and because we are linked with him, we share his life.
Jesus is the bridge to a relationship with god that you could never acquire on your own. (He will later give a simple image - he is the vine, we are the branches.)
Jesus is not just a helper. He is the mediator, the link between God and human beings. There is no other - no saint, no bishop, no mystic can fill that role. He alone is the "bread of life." What a gift. So simple. So profound.
Too many words can get in the way. Just let it sink in.
