You now watch a curious incident take place.
Jesus and Peter are walking, and Jesus has been talking to him about his future. The Beloved Disciple is approaching to join them, and when Peter notices this he asks, naturally enough, "What about him?" Will he too "follow" Jesus to a martyr's death?
Jesus dismisses the question and tells Peter simply to be concerned about his own faithfulness in following him.
These words hit home for you. now and then it crosses your mind to compare your role to that of others and wonder why they get off so easily.
Those words that Jesus just spoke to Peter ring in your ears. "What concern is it of yours? You follow me."
It's the way he said it. He didn't sound angry or impatient. But it was clear and direct. "You follow me" - with the emphasis not on the "you," but on the "me."
